Strategies
for the development and implementation of environmental observation,
assessment and reporting Several strategic planning processes are underway to improve global environmental information collection and delivery. The following documents are contributions to the process of strategy development, ranging from an overall strategic framework to specific strategies for institutions or partnerships addressing some part of the process. UNEP Environmental Observing and Assessment Strategy UNEP has reviewed its assessment and monitoring activities and developed a new UNEP Environmental Observing and Assessment Strategy to implement its mandate to analyze the state of the global environment, assess global and regional environmental trends, and provide early warning on environmental threats. The following documents include various versions of the strategy, and background documents that have supported its development. Final approval of the strategy is expected during 2000.
