"In a true Bahá'í marriage the two parties must become fully united both spiritually and physically, so that they may attain eternal union throughout all the worlds of God, and improve the spiritual life of each other. This is Bahá'í matrimony."     - 'Abdu'l-Bahá

Make them sing !

Listen to Mahalia sing one of here beautiful sacred text rendition (which she composed with Reno), a Hidden Word on love... Or hear ye some songs for children in pre-production with our talented friend Geneviève Labbé: Amis unis(friends united), Justice, Véracité(truthfulness).

Their story - An evident couple

Alex: nomad, likes isolated places, nocturnal, loves mountains, eats once a day, wants 10 children

Mahalia: sedentary, likes populated places, diurnal, loves the sea, eats 5 times a day, does not want 10 children

Their story - her version...

The Alexander is a very rare species - unique actually - that feeds mainly on services and glucose. Born in New Caledonia to French and American migratory parents, he decided in 1998 after much traveling himself to migrate to... Montreal!!! (Hurrah!) to study in Communications at Concordia University. A few years later, he finds himself, at 25, product manager for a company specializing in telemedicine, and about to marry and move to St-Romuald (small town on the South shore of Québec city)!! What happened?? Why don't you ask him? (aha, I must keep a little to myself, mustn't I?)

Alright... Alright!!

I can tell you that, for my part, I had been conquered by his innumerable and profound qualities of spirit, his constant friendship, his little childish side always roguish and rapt with wonder, his exceptional maturity and the numerous collaborations where I saw him serve, love, have fun, work and evolve. I therefore:

  • assailed him with romantic emails until he surrendered;
  • kidnapped him to Magdelena Islands, got him to drink a magical love potion (hidden in the lobster of course), then asked him to marry me;
  • waited, sad and sooo alone, until he deigned notice me and grant me a little of his attention;
  • All the above?

Well, this is but a scant summary of who Alex is and what he means to me. I invite you to play "Colombo" and find out for yourself the exceptional person he is. You'll be conquered, guaranteed!

Their story - his version...

Uhhh... I love her!

Oh, you mean you want me to present her to you? I see... Well, Mahalia Gagnon was born and raised in Québec and Magdalena Islands. Born blond, she has mainly stayed so since. Despite such a handicap, and despite her gorgeous looks, she has managed to develop a bright, deep intelligence. Never limiting herself to superficialities, her luminous gaze penetrates the hearts of those she meets. There she uncovers gems that she values and treasures, knitting solid bonds of friendship in record time and building communities with indefatigable enthusiasm. When she's not working on illustrations for children's books with her precious friend "Mamie-Chouette," preparing enchanting animations and shows for kids, or taking care of her son's education, you'll likely find her chairing some meeting to organise a native celebration, giving presentations or youth classes in remote regions (Sept-Iles, for instance, a native community 7h-drive away where she teaches regularly), or following her soul's promptings and consoling a friend whose heart she intuited was in need. She daily cultivates laughter, health and spirituality. To conquer such a prized catch, I've had to:

  • eliminate one by one the 195 other suitors during perilous knightly tournaments, the fair lady's gaze and gasps smouldering my heart and spurring me on despite all odds;
  • demonstrate being a "model modern man" by investing in onerous mentors so as to become: strong but sensitive, firm but supple, intelligent but pleasantly dumb, feminine but very male, protective but not jealous, close but not too close, etc.;
  • intentionally fail miserably all my attempts at romantic gifts and surprises for her to finally take pity on me and start feeling a certain tenderness (the kind you show a ridiculously clumsy kitten);
  • hypnotize her mother and son for them to be triggered into trying to convince her of how wonderful a suitor I was ("and what about Alex..." "Isn't Alex something...");
  • learn cartwheels;
  • all the above?

Jérémie...

10 years-old, Jérémie already possesses a rare keenness of perception and gift at relationships. He loves his friends (of all ages), sports and skate, "World Industries," taking pictures, and life in general. He has a knack for taking care of younger children, able to look after them admirably for hours and even days. As a result he has quite a following of younger ones who have adopted him as their "big brother" and become ecstatic at the idea of spending time with him. Not only is he welcoming this change in family life with open heart, but he's also started an innovative new trilingual school this year.

The ceremony

We held a simple Baha'i ceremony on the beautiful island of Orléans (near Québec city), attended by around 150 radiant souls. We sincerely wished we could invite everybody, however that was not possible.

That's all, folks!
