Basel, Switzerland
On 11 June 2017 I went to Basel, Switzerland, for the opening of a small (35
painting) exposition on Mark Tobey, to
which I had loaned four paintings. I first went to the Kuntzmuseum, with
both its superb permanent collection from all eras, and special shows from
the Prado and on Cezanne. There was also a little time to walk through the
old town where the Knoell Gallery was located in Erasmus House, and around
the cathedral to admire the view of the Rhine River that flows through the
middle of Basel. Since it was just before the opening of Art Basel, there
were modern sculptures and other works everywhere.
